Winners of the Provost’s Teaching Awards 2019 announced

Provost’s Teaching Awards recognise lecturers’ committed to teaching & learning

The Trinity College Dublin annual Provost’s Teaching Award were presented by Dr Patrick Prendergast to five members of staff in recognition of their enthusiasm and commitment to ensuring students receive quality teaching and learning.  The Awards are Trinity’s principal means of celebrating academic staff who have made an outstanding contribution in the pursuit of teaching excellence in the University and who promote teaching as a scholarly activity.

The 2019 recipients are: Professor Tara Mitchell, School of Social Sciences & Philosophy, Professor Helen Sheridan, School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences, Professor Celia Holland, School of Natural Sciences who was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award, and Professor Brendan Ciarán Browne, School of Religion and Professor Conor McGinn, School of Engineering, both of whom received an Early Career Award. Professor Browne was presented his award in absentia as he is in Palestine working on the development of an internship programme he has set up.

Seven staff members who were nominated for the Provost’s Teaching Awards were shortlisted  –Professor Ann Devitt, School of Education, Professor Eric Downer, School of Medicine, Professor Matthew Saunders, School of Natural Sciences, Professor Ronan Lyons, School of Social Sciences & Philosophy, Professor Joseph Roche, School of Education, Professor Liam Kneafsey, School of Social Sciences & Philosophy, and Professor Martha O’Hagan Luff, School of Business.
