Trinity Student Entrepreneurs Develop Business Concept at Hack Day

The Trinity Entrepreneurial Society (TES) and the Dublin University Computer Science Society (DUCSS) organised a daylong event designed to give students of business and technology the opportunity to work together on building a realistic business concept.

“Mixed teams of students with different abilities were placed together to work throughout the day. Technology students  worked on producing either a website, physical product, app, or other platform. Their business counterparts  worked in tandem, developing a marketing and financial driven business pitch, which was  presented to judges at the end of the day,” explained Peter Gillen, President of TES and Senior Sophister, Business and Economics student.

The theme of this year's Hack Day was 'encouraging healthy living among young people'. Sponsors of the event were Tata Consultancy Services and Web Summit.

Trinity Entrepreneurial Society (TES) is the largest business and careers focused society  on the Trinity campus. With over 1,500 members, it aids the student body through its ‘TES Talks’ Speakers Series, its annual Dragons’ Den competition and its Enterprise & Networking Nights. This year invited speakers have included Mark Little, Ray Nolan and Paddy Cosgrave, among many others.

Dublin University Computer Science Society (DUCSS) is the primary technology society in Trinity College. Its aim is to further interest and knowledge in Computer Science by the promotion of events to foster and develop co-operation between persons involved in Computer Science, associated disciplines and the application of Computerised Systems.
