Trinity Excels in Leiden Rankings at 48th Place in the World

Trinity College Dublin has been ranked in 48th place in the world and 9th in Europe in the recently published CWTS Leiden Ranking 2013. This is a marked increase of 15 places from 63rd place in the world last year.
Commenting on this achievement, Trinity Provost, Dr Patrick Prendergast said: “These rankings confirm Trinity’s position as Ireland’s premier university, competing at the highest international level. They highlight the excellent performance of Trinity researchers which puts Trinity in the top tier of world universities”.
In the 2013 Leiden Rankings, Trinity was ranked:
– 36th in the world and 8th in Europe in Biomedical and Health Sciences
– 48th in the world and 10th in Europe in Natural Sciences and Engineering
– 73rd in the world and 14th in Europe in Mathematics and Computer Science
The CWTS Leiden Ranking 2013 measures the scientific performance of 500 major universities worldwide. Using a sophisticated set of bibliometric indicators, the ranking aims to provide highly accurate measurements of the scientific impact of universities and of universities’ involvement in scientific collaboration. The CWTS Leiden Ranking 2013 is based on Web of Science indexed publications from the period 2008-2011.
