Trinity Biomedical Sciences Institute Shortlisted for Engineers Ireland Award

The Trinity Biomedical Sciences Institute has been shortlisted for an Engineers Ireland Excellence Award.  Eight projects are in with a chance to win the award for Engineering Project of the Year 2011 which will be judged by the largest number of online votes received by Thursday November 3rd next.  The public can vote online.

Designed by RKD Architects and constructed by Trinity College Dublin and Walls development, the building creates a corridor of academic activity and public interaction along Pearse Street in Dublin’s city centre, providing new social spaces, commercial areas, and improved access to public transport.  The €131 million eleven storey development (35,000m²) accommodates over 900 leading researchers in one building with the common goal of addressing major challenges in world health and disease.  The building incorporates a diverse array of innovative mechanical and electrical services, all engineered to meet the current and future needs of the state-of-the-art educational and research laboratory spaces.

A shortlist of projects can be viewed on the competition website and the overall winner will be announced at a special awards ceremony on Friday November 4th next.
