“We must adjust to globalization” – McCreevy
The EU Commissioner for the Internal Market Charlie McCreevy addressed a workshop for 2006 Student Economic Review (SER) at Trinity College Dublin on Thursday, 23 February. This year is the 20th Anniversary of the SER which is one of the only economics journals in the world produced entirely by students
In his address to the students Commissioner McCreevey, stated that Ireland and Europe must adapt to the challenges of globalization. Mr McCreevy said that most of the fears about globalization were misplaced and that data showed that it had not undermined the European economy.
Every year since its inception in 1987, the Review committee is chosen from the third-year undergraduates of Trinity College by the Economics Department. The essays reproduced in the Review have usually been recommended by a lecturer in the Department, who would have marked it as part of course assessment. Postgraduate students often submit summaries of the research they have done for their theses. Also, others submit works on topics that interest them.
