Trinity College Dublin has been awarded an Irish Times Creative Effective Design in Advertising for Recruitment (CEDAR) Award in the Education Category.
This year The Irish Times Cedar Awards are celebrating 20 years of the Recruitment Advertising Effectiveness Awards. Since then Recruitment Advertising has changed dramatically, not only in terms of increased volume and size, but more importantly in terms of creative excellence. The Irish Times Cedar Awards is a reflection of this continued advancement.
Trinity College Dublin and Brindley Advertising won the education category. The advertisement for the Director of Research and Innovation and other posts in Research and Innovation featured the slogan: “Vision is the art of seeing what’s invisible to others – Jonathan Swift, Class of 1686.”
The citation in relation to TCD’s advertisement read:
‘Recognised internationally as Ireland’s premier university and is the only Irish university to rank in the top 100 world universities (53rd) and amongst the top 50 European universities (13th). They recruit world class leaders to advance their research strengths and build on their excellence in third level undergraduate education. Their strategic priorities of research and education are also aligned with contributing to the national goal of fostering Ireland’s cultural and economic vibrancy.’
Chairman of the judging panel and chief executive of the Labour Relations Commission, Kieran Mulvey, praised the high standard of the entries to this year’s Cedar Awards. Other members of the judging panel included Bríd O’Brien, HR director of Meteor; Peter Mulholland, group head of human resources RTÉ; Conor Kennedy, creative director at Javelin Y&R; Carol Soutar, art director at Publicis QMP; and Una McCaffrey, assistant business editor, The Irish Times.
Ten awards were presented to recruiting companies and the design or advertising agencies behind their campaign by Maeve Donovan, managing director of The Irish Times Ltd. at a special ceremony.
