Work of two Trinity Scientific researchers has been chosen to go live for three days in a row on the main screen in Times Square in New York as part of an image competition (In Cell system) run by General Electric.
Darragh Crotty, postgraduate student under Dr Adriele Prina-Mello (CRANN), Prof Coey (CRANN Physics) and Dr Davey (TCIN Biochemistry), and Connla Edward, research assistant in the High Content Analysis laboratory (IMM – St James’s) in conjunction with Dr Anthony Davies, Dr Yuri Volkov and Prof Dermot Kelleher.
“The result of this GE – IN Cell Image competition is a great achievement for the Trinity scientists involved and the whole scientific community to encourage the take up of science not only as an important scientific matter to improve the quality of everybody’s life but also as an artistic expression of our everyday job”, Dr Prina-Mello said.
“The result of this competition also gives a great boost to the recently launch HCA laboratory and amplifies its multidisciplinary nature of the research carried out in Trinity College”, Prof Kelleher said.
The researchers’ achievements have been made possible due to the opportunity to access and use this technology made by the Medical School and on-going collaboration of the Department of Clinical Medicine with CRANN.
