TCD Chinese Alumni Association is Launched

The Chinese Ambassador to Ireland, His Excellency Mr Liu Biwei, was guest of honour at the inaugural meeting of the TCD Chinese Alumni Association which took place in the Graduates Memorial Building (GMB) on December 4th last.
Hosted by Professor Juergen Barkhoff, Registrar, TCD, he welcomed the Ambassador and congratulated the Chinese alumni who initiated this exciting new venture which will strengthen the links between China and TCD. These links are long established, since the formation of the Fuzhou Foreign Languages School by Trinity Missionaries more than 100 years ago.
Guests at the launch included Mr Bernard Hensey B.A.I. Chairman of the TCD School of Engineering Board who lives in Shanghai and his wife; the Chairperson of the TCD Association & Trust Dr Mary Henry, M.A. M.D.; Mr John McPartland, Director International Student Affairs and Mr John Dillon, B.A.I. M.Sc. M.B.A. Director of Alumni.
His Excellency Mr Liu Biwei, Chinese Ambassador to Ireland, Professor Juergen Barkhoff, Registrar, and Mr Wu Bing, former Research Fellow TCD.
Over 70 Chinese alumni and members of staff were present. The organising committee is planning an active annual programme both in Ireland and China and would like to hear from all TCD alumni who have connections with China.
