Seachtain Spleodrach Geallta d’Éigse na Tríonóide Exciting Week Promised for Éigse na Tríonóide

Seo roinnt de na buaicphointí a bheas ann le linn Éigse na Tríonóide 2010 féile bhliantúil Ghaeilge  an Choláiste a bheas ar siúl ón 8-12 Márta i gcroílár na hardchathrach.

Cuirfear tús le himeachtaí ag am lóin Dé Luain le seoladh iris bhríomhar an Chumainn ‘Tuathal’.  Baileoidh slua mór mac léinn sa Chearnóg Thosaigh ag 3.00in, iad gléasta i t-léintí dearga i bhfoirm Chroí Gaelach, agus réalt mór Chumann Lúthchleas Gael, Shay Fitzpatrick i láthair.

Ar an Mháirt, beidh Turas Ealaíne ar an gcampas agus Céilí Mór istoíche amuigh i Halla na Tríonóide, áit a bhfuil scéim chónaithe lonnaithe.

Ar an gCéadaoin, beidh ceardlanna díospóireachta na mac léinn, a bhí ar siúl le tamaillín anuas, ag teacht chun críche le Ceardlann Cheannais Díospóireachta ar an gCéadaoin. Beidh pearsantacht mhór TG4, Máirtín Tom Sheáinín, inár dteannta do Bhronnadh na bhFáinní, agus beidh ceol agus gloine fíona ar fáil!  Ag 6.30in, déanfar ceiliúradh ar na nascanna idir ÉIRE agus Albain sa Téatar Poiblí le ceol agus filíocht ó Louis dePaor, Ronán Browne agus Griogair Labhruidh. 

Beidh an banna ceoil iomráiteach Aslan, mar aon le The Hounds of Culann, ag seinnt ag Gig Mór na Mac Léinn sa Village (Sráid Loch Garman) ag  a 9in, agus táthar le slua mór bríomhar a fheiceáil ag an ócáid chéanna.

Ar an Déardaoin, beidh Urnaí na Nóna canta i nGaeilge sa séipéal. Níos déanaí, beidh mic léinn ag glacadh páirt i Rith 2010 i lár na cathrach agus feisteas galánta ócáide á gcaitheamh acu, do Ball na Gaeilge (buaicphointe na seachtaine!) a bheas ar siúl in Óstán an Russell Court ag a 9.30in. Beidh neart le n-ithe agus le n-ól, agus siamsaíocht ag dul ar aghaidh ó oíche go maidin!

Beidh Turas Gaeilge ar an gcampas stairiúil á reáchtáil ag a 2in ar an Aoine. Cuirfear clabhsúr cuí le himeachtaí na hÉigse le ceol agus craic i dtabhairne an Choláiste, an Pav, ag 3in agus scéaltaí na seachtaine á gcíoradh ag an gcomhluadar!

Bí linn mar sin agus an Ghaeilge á cheiliúradh againn i lár na cathrach, agus beidh fáilte mhór roimh gach éinne chuig na himeachtaí éagsúla. Beidh clár ama agus tuilleadh eolais ar ionaid agus imeachtaí na hÉigse ar fáil ar shuíomh an Chumainn Ghaelaigh ag www.cumann.ie agus ar shuíomh Oifig na Gaeilge ag www.tcd.ie/gaeloifig.

Exciting week promised for Éigse na Tríonóide
Aslan- Louis dePaor- Rith 2010- the ‘Irish Ball’- students making the shape of a giant Gaelic Heart in Front Square!! These are some of the highlights planned for Éigse na Tríonóide 2010 (Trinity’s annual Irish language festival) which runs from the 8-12 March in the heart of the capital city.

The programme commences lunchtime Monday with the launch of the lively Cumann Gaelach journal ‘Tuathal’. A large group of students will gather in Front Square at 3.00pm, attired in red t-shirts to form the shape of a Gaelic Heart, in the presence of GAA star Shay Fitzpatrick.

On Tuesday a bilingual Art Tour will be held on campus and a Céilí Mór takes place in the evening in Trinity Hall, Dartry, where a student residency scheme is located.

On Wednesday, the recent debating workshop sessions will culminate in the Debating Workshops Final. The well-known TG4 personality Máirtín Tom Sheáinín, will join us for the presentations of the Fáinne,  followed by music and a glass of wine. At 6.30pm, links between Ireland and Scotland will be celebrated in the Public Theatre with a concert featuring poetry and music from Louis de Paor, Ronán Browne and Griogair Labhruidh. 

Renowned group Aslan, along with The Hounds of Culann, will play at Gig Mór na Mac Léinn in The Village (Wexford Street) at 9pm, and a large and vibrant crowd is expected at this event. 

On Thursday, Choral Evensong (Urnaí na Nóna) will be sung in Irish in the College Chapel. Later, TCD students will take part in Rith 2010 in the city centre, clad in formal dress wear for  Ball na Gaeilge (the main event of the week) to be held in the Russell Court Hotel at 9.30pm. There will be plenty to eat and to drink, and ‘oíche go maidin’ (a night until morning) is expected!

A Campus Tour in Irish will take place at 2pm on Friday. The Éigse programme will be drawn to an appropriate close with ceol agus craic in the College’s  Pavillion bar at 3pm, as the events of the week are good-humouredly dissected!
