Science Gallery Wins Irish Times Living Dublin Award
Posted on: 09 January 2009
“In a year where we have been able to bring the latest white hot science issues to over 110,000 visitors and add a new dimension to the Trinity College Campus we were delighted to be recognised at the Irish Times Living Dublin awards”, stated Science Gallery Director, Dr Michael John Gorman. “We look forward to building on this success with our upcoming exhibitions, including the exciting Lightwave which opens on January 23rd.”
TechnoThreads attracted some 33,000 visitors over the course of its run, with a range of workshops and talks on themes that included the future of fashion, insulating materials and a Swap-O-Rama-Rama where visitors recycled and changed their clothing using new technologies. TechnoThreads was curated by Marie O’Mahony, co-author of the Techno Textiles series of books, and further developed by a curatorial team that included experts from the fashion and design field working alongside nanoscientists and geneticists.
