The Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) Association and the School of Business at Trinity College Dublin have signed an academic partnership agreement, representing the third accreditation for Trinity’s MSc in Finance programme. The agreement was signed on behalf of the School of Business by Associate Professor of Finance at TCD, Brian Lucey and CAIA’s Managing Director of Global Business Development, Caroline Bault. The event, which took place recently at TCD, was attended by staff, students and alumni of the School of Business, and representatives from CAIA.
CAIA is an independent, not-for-profit global organisation committed to education and professionalism in the field of alternative investments. Headquartered in Amherst, Massachusetts, USA, with offices in Singapore and London, CAIA offers the only globally recognised designation for alternative investment professionals. The CAIA designation demonstrates mastery of alternative investment concepts, tools, and practices and promotes adherence to the highest standards of professional conduct. As CAIA’s first Irish partner and only the seventh globally, Trinity students will enjoy discounts on examination fees as well as enhanced linkages with the alternative investment community both locally and globally.
Dr Aleksandar Sevic, Director of the MSc in Finance programme; Professor Brian Lucey, Associate Professor of Finance; Caroline Bault, Managing Director of Global Business Development for CAIA; and Professor David Coghlan, Head of School of Business.
Speaking about the new partnership Professor Brian Lucey said: “Our vision is to further strengthen TCD’s reputation as a university of global consequence. This partnership will allow our students to prepare for a globally recognised industry designation while studying for their Masters qualification. The combination will give them a powerful advantage in the job market.”
Trinity College Dublin’s MSc in Finance programme is already accredited by the Chartered Financial Analyst Association (CFA) and Professional Risk Managers’ International Associated (PRMIA) who have both recognised the academic rigour and industry relevant skills taught to students. The new partnership with CAIA makes Trinity’s MSc in Finance the only course worldwide with this unique triple accreditation, and builds on the School’s reputation as a global centre of excellence in finance.
