New partnership with Cricket Leinster

Representatives from Trinity Sport, Trinity Cricket Club, Cricket Leinster, along with Leinster and Irish international players, were in the Pav this week to hear details of a new three-year strategic partnership between the college and Cricket Leinster.

Under the new arrangement, the iconic College Park will become the home ground of all Leinster youth and senior representative cricket in the province. Some of these fixtures will be played this year, in advance of a full schedule in 2019.

In turn, Trinity will have access to Cricket Leinster skills and capacity to upgrade and maintain the cricket square and outfield to the highest standard. Cricket Leinster will also assist Trinity in leveraging its facilities to secure international recruitment to the college and to develop junior talent pathways.

Deputy Head of Sport & Recreation Matthew Dossett commented: “Trinity has a proud tradition and heritage of cricket with a vibrant club on campus. We are delighted to be partnering with Cricket Leinster to support the growth and development of the sport within Trinity and throughout Leinster.”

Cricket was first played in College Park in 1820 and was the home of Irish cricket and venue for most international matches up to the 1960s.
