New Geological Display Cabinets Unveiled in Museum Building

Four new display cabinets containing rock and mineral collections related to current and on-going research in Trinity’s School of Natural Sciences Department of Geology were recently unveiled in the foyer of the Museum Building.

The new purpose built cabinets cover a range of geological topics including Zinc in Ireland; Radioactivity and Geology; The evolution of life on Earth; and Sodium and the age of the Earth. The revamp of the display cabinets formed part of the celebrations for Trinity Week 2012 which was hosted by the Faculty of Engineering, Mathematics and Science. The cases were purchased with the support of the Dean of the Faculty and the Zinc ore on display was donated by Boliden Tara Mines.
