International Dental Educators and Global Health Experts to attend Global Congress in Dental Education

International dental educators and global health experts will gather for the Global Congress on Dental Education organised by the Dublin Dental School & Hospital, Trinity College at Dublin Castle on 6-8 September next.
The speakers will include Dr Mary Robinson, Chairperson, Realizing Rights The Ethical Globalisation Initiative (video address), Jeffry Sachs, Director of Earth Institute (telecast), Dr David Wong, Director of Dental Research Institute, UCLA and Professor Richard Valachovic, Director of ADEA, the coordinating body of all dental schools in America.
President, Mrs Mary McAleese will launch a new Global Network on Dental Education and address the congress at 12pm, on Saturday, September 8th.
This congress aims to improve global oral health through collaboration, education and the exploitation of modern developments in science and technology for the benefit of patient care.
The greatest challenges are faced in Africa, with only one dentist per 6 million people in some of its countries. Delegates from African countries will be establishing an African dental education association at Dublin Castle immediately following the congress. African delegates participating at the Congress include Professor Tsheppo Gugushe of the Medunsa Dental School, Pretoria and Professor Mohammed Moola, of the University of the Western Cape, Capetown.
The Global Congress on Dental Education is being organised under the joint auspices of the International Federation of Dental Educators and Associations (IFDEA), DentEd III (an EU Thematic Network), American Dental Education Association (ADEA) and the Association for Dental Education in Europe (ADEE). Trinity College’s Dublin Dental School & Hospital is hosting the Congress as a member of IFDEA.
