Graduates Return to Trinity for the Alumni Weekend
Posted on: 26 August 2011
Over 600 graduates and their families are set to visit Trinity College Dublin this weekend (August 26th to 28th) for the annual graduate reunion weekend. This year alumni of 2001, 1991, 1981, 1971, 1961 and 1951 are especially welcome to coincide with the special anniversaries of their graduation.
As 2011 marks the Tercentenary celebrations of the disciplines of Medicine, Chemistry and Botany at TCD, graduates from these disciplines will meet with former classmates to reminisce about their time together, share stories of their lives and careers to date, and discover what has changed in Trinity since their student days. This year’s reunion will see the School of Medicine welcome over 400 of its graduates to Trinity from 16 countries.

The exciting programme of events promises a weekend of fun and education, reconnecting with old friends, and an opportunity to make new ones. Features of the programme include celebratory dinners, visits to the Science Gallery, ‘Medical Dublin’ tours, a symposium entitled ‘300 Years and a Day – Tercentenary Away’, ‘Trinity then, Trinity now’, reflections by Conor O’Kelly, CEO of NCB Stockbrokers and BBS alumnus (1982) on the developments in College since he was a student, a tour of east end of College including visit to Botany and to the newly-constructed Trinity Biomedical Sciences Institute, and a steam train outing to Mullingar.
Alumni are the College’s ambassadors in society. The College is delighted that they find time in their busy lives to visit their alma mater and share the wealth of knowledge they have with current students. We hope the weekend is an enjoyable one and our alumni keep in contact with the College for many years to come.
