Global Achievers Award for TCD Sociologist

TCD Associate Professor in Sociology Ronit Lentin was presented with a Global Achievers Award for Nigeria at an awards ceremony.

The Global Achievers Award for Nigeria 2013 were held to acknowledge Nigerians living in Ireland as well advocates for the Nigerian community in Ireland and was hosted by Metro Eireann newspaper.

Dr Lentin’s award was in recognition of her work as an educator and founder of TCD’s MPhil in Race, Ethnicity, Conflict (formerly Ethnic and Racial Studies). She was presented with her award by Fr Cornelius Nwaogwugwu.

In his address at the awards ceremony, Nigerian Ambassador to Finland Benedict Amobi highlighted the importance of the Nigerian Diaspora in Ireland: “Our award recipients this evening highlight the importance of our Diaspora as ‘ambassadors’ of the country, presenting Nigeria to the world and facilitating the telling of our own narrative.”
