Fujitsu Siemens Computers affirmed its commitment to its corporate and social responsibility programme and further supported the educational sector by awarding six of Trinity College’s most elite post-graduate students with portable laptop PCs by Fujitsu Siemens Computers. The students are winners of the annual Ussher International Fellowship Awards 2001/02.
The students – David Coughlan, Shane Glackin, Elizabeth Heron, Matthew Li, Aedin Minogue and Brendan O’Connell – are completing PhD studies in a diverse range of topics, from Pharmaceutics, Philosophy and Physiology, to Statistics, Economics and English. They were presented with the laptops at a ceremony in Trinity by Mr. David Fitzgerald, Enterprise Sales Director, Fujitsu Siemens Computers.
“These Ussher International studentships are the most prestigious postgraduate awards that the College currently offers. Fujitsu Siemens Computers must be thanked most sincerely for their generosity in marking the outstanding academic achievement of the Ussher Scholars in such an appropriate manner,” said the Provost of Trinity College, Dr. John Hegarty.
Mr. David Fitzgerald, Enterprise Sales Director, Fujitsu Siemens Computers, said: “This initiative forms part of our corporate and social responsibility programme and our commitment to the Irish educational sector. We are delighted to be associated with Trinity College in what is an enterprising award for students. Fujitsu Siemens Computers is committed to supporting the educational sector and welcomes initiatives which facilitate these relationships.”
The recipients of these studentships receive full fee remission, rooms on campus and a substantial maintenance contribution in addition to their Fujitsu Siemens laptops this year.
