Front Gate Online – New Website for Trinity College Alumni Launched

Front Gate Online, a new website for Trinity College alumni was launched by the Provost, Dr John Hegarty, on Wednesday November 10th last. The new service will enable alumni of Trinity continue to connect with the College, their classmates and friends via a website that allows users view and update contact details, connect with other alumni and support current students.
Speaking at the launch the Provost, Dr John Hegarty said: “We’re delighted to be able to offer this online service. With over 90,000 alumni worldwide, it’s important they have viable means of keeping connected with the College and each other.”
One of the exciting services offered as part of Front Gate Online is the Career Network. The service allows alumni and students to search and connect with alumni professionals for career advice and information. Commenting on the service Dr Hegarty said: “The Career Network is a very important service especially given the times we live in. Connecting alumni with each other and with students for career support is of real value to the College community. Being online ensures all alumni and students can participate, giving it global appeal.” The Career Network will be opened to students of the College in early 2011.

The website, which went live in early November, has already seen over 2,500 alumni sign up. Speaking about this early support for the website Alumni Director, John Dillon said: “The initial response has been very positive. Since the site went live there have been over 80,000 page views, representing a real appetite within the alumni community to stay connected with their alma mater and their peers, and offer their support for students.” More information on Front Gate Online is available at www.tcd.ie/alumni.
