From Six Nations to Sigerson

There were more high-profile successes for Trinity Sport in February. DUFC (Trinity Rugby) have had a regular role to play in this year’s ongoing Six Nations U20s tournament, with sports scholars Jack Dunne and Michael Silvester making solid contributions to the team. The Ireland U20s’ final game takes place on March 16th away to England.
Another sports scholar, power-lifter Aoife O’Sullivan, had a successful day at the National Championships in February, winning bronze in the U63kg open category.
Table tennis intervarsities and kayak intervarsities both took place in mid-February, as did DUFC’s (Trinity Rugby) triumph over Buccaneers on College Park, 21-17. This was a must-win fixture for the team in order to keep their hopes of remaining in Division 1A alive.
Trinity’s fresher Association Footballers stormed through the Harding Cup, beating UCC in the final by 1-0 to clinch the trophy which has eluded the club for 21 years.
The month concluded with a series of victories by the Trampoline Club, who picked up in excess of 20 medals at this year’s Colours, hosted by UCD.
In the midst of all this Santry Sports Grounds also hosted the GAA Higher Education Sigerson final, which drew great crowds to witness a very close game in which UCD beat NUIG by a point.
