Actor and Director Robert Redford gives Public Lecture in Trinity College

The academy-award winning director, producer and actor, Robert Redford gave a public lecture in Trinity College on Thursday 10 July in advance of receiving his honorary degree from the College.
The talk, hosted by Trinity’s
School
of
Drama
, Film and Music, was moderated by Michael Dwyer, Film Correspondent for the Irish Times, and included questions from the audience, during which
Redford
spoke of his acting and directing career as well as his political and environmental interests.
“Redford’s career as a stage and film actor spans more than 50 years, and he has been an international star since the 1969 film Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.” stated Kevin Rockett, Head of Trinity’s
School
of
Drama
, Film and Music. “In all,
Redford
has appeared in 35 films and has directed another 6 feature films, including most recently Lions for Lambs from 2007, which like many of his films, has a topical, political element, something reflected in his activities concerning environmental issues, including the current oil crisis.”
Robert Redford received an Honorary Degree from
Trinity
College
on Friday 11 July for his contribution to film and his work as an activist on environmental issues and Native American rights.
