Trinity co-hosts Women in STEMM Summit 2024

The resounding success of the summit co-hosted by the School of Physics underscores the importance of fostering diversity and inclusivity in STEMM fields.
Trinity’s School of Physics, in partnership with the Institute of Physics (IOP) and the STEMM Global Scientific Society, proudly hosted the Women in STEMM Summit 2024. This hugely successful event took place concurrently at Trinity College Dublin and the Institute of Physics, London, on March 7th and 8th, as part of International Women’s Day celebrations.
The summit, which gathered over 100 participants over two enriching days, was proudly supported by Three Ireland. Attended by talented and innovative women working across all disciplines in STEMM, the event proved to be a remarkable platform for collaboration, innovation, and positive change.

Professor Anna Baldycheva, a PhD graduate of Trinity College Dublin, and now head of the STEMM Lab at the University of Exeter, served as the chair of the Women in STEMM Summit 2024. Reflecting on the resounding success of the event, Professor Baldycheva remarked,
“The Women in STEMM Summit 2024 was a remarkable gathering of brilliant minds across Ireland and the UK all coming together in celebration of International Women's Day. As a scientist and advocate for gender equality in STEMM fields, I was thrilled to see a fantastic vibe of mutual support, inspiration, and collaborative spirit that permeated every session. This event has set a new standard for celebrating and empowering women in STEMM fields.”
Women in STEMM Summit 2024 showcased a diverse range of topics spanning all STEMM disciplines, including physics, engineering, mathematics, computer science, health sciences, life sciences, and materials science. The scientific program featured impactful talks, enlightening presentations, and special sessions dedicated to empowering female professionals in academia and industry. Additionally, attendees had the opportunity to engage in innovation sessions, receiving invaluable feedback from esteemed industry practitioners.
Mark Redmond, Chief People Officer at Three Ireland, and panelist at the Career Opportunities for Women in STEMM Panel discussion, shared insights on the significance of supporting women in STEMM. Redmond expressed:

The resounding success of the Women in STEMM Summit 2024 underscores the importance of fostering diversity and inclusivity in STEMM fields. Building on this success, Trinity’s School of Physics is thrilled to announce that it will once again welcome the Women in STEMM Summit in 2025. Plans are already underway for Women in STEMM 2025, promising even greater opportunities for collaboration, innovation, and empowerment.
