Trinity Access Programmes celebrate 90 undergraduate scholarships coinciding with their 30th Anniversary
Trinity Access Programmes (TAP) celebrated their undergraduate scholarship awards in the Dining Hall recently. It was a particularly poignant event as 2023 marks 30 years since TAP began in Trinity College Dublin.
Acting Director Dr Lisa Keane told attendees that TAP began with 5 scholarships and said:
“In TAP our dreams are born out of a desire to ensure that all the students we work with reach their full educational potential so that their dreams become a reality.”
TCD Law Professor Neville Cox expressed that TAP students create ripple effects in their families and communities that will be felt for generations to come.
Deputy Director of TAP, Kathleen O’Toole Brennan recounted the story of mathematician Richard Murray who entered TCD as a sizar receiving financial supports before eventually going on to become Provost of the college in 1795.
Daire Hennessey, Community Mentoring Coordinator at TAP and former scholarship recipient told the students:
“Trinity is lucky to have your brains, your background, your story.”
TCD TradSoc were also present to provide entertainment to the students, their friends and families.
TAP would like to thank all their supporters who have allowed these bright students to thrive in their chosen fields.
