Rugby World Cup collector coin features Trinity's Campanile
Posted on: 13 October 2023
For France, they picked the Eiffel Tower; for England, it was Big Ben; and when it came to picking a landmark building to appear on a collector coin to mark Ireland's participation in the 2023 Rugby World Cup, the French Mint chose Trinity's own Campanile.
Trinity is home to the Dublin University Rugby Club, the oldest rugby club in the world in continuous existence, dating back to 1854.
The iconic bell tower in the heart of the campus of Trinity College Dublin was also the backdrop for French ambassador Vincent Guérend to present one of the newly minted collector coins to Trinity Provost Dr Linda Doyle this week.
Also taking part in the celebrations were Trinity's Director of Sport Michelle Tanner, Trinity Men's captain Diarmuid McCormack and Trinity Women’s Rugby player, Alana Fusciardi Wallace.
