Biography

Dr Loren Duffy is Adjunct Assistant Professor at Trinity Business School and a psychologist whose work explores how people make sense of their circumstances, adapt to them and perform within them.

For more than 35 years, he has been driven by a fascination with human behaviour: how we interpret experience and respond to pressure and change, and what allows us not simply to function but to remain creative and fully alive. His psychological formation spans cognitive, behavioural, psychodynamic and systemic traditions, alongside extensive training in process work and interpersonal neurobiology. He holds three degrees in psychology, including a PhD.

That inquiry has taken him into unusually diverse settings. An early career in film, comedy and music shaped his interest in creativity and the conditions in which exceptional work emerges. In Los Angeles, he conducted child protection investigations and worked with street gangs; he later engaged with political and paramilitary leaders on both sides of the conflict in Northern Ireland and with indigenous communities in the Amazon.

Today, Loren works with senior leaders, entrepreneurs and elite performers across technology, pharmaceuticals, financial services, government and international institutions. At Trinity, where he teaches leadership as senior faculty in Executive Education, he brings these worlds together to explore how people and organisations see more clearly, exercise judgement, adapt to changing circumstances and turn possibility into meaningful action.
