Entry criteria

  • At least five years of professional or managerial experience .
  • A degree, professional qualification, or solid track record of business achievement .
  • A global outlook and a collaborative mindset. 
  • Proof of English proficiency where requiredIELTS 7.0 (no band below 6.5), TOEFL 100 (no score below 23), a Pearson Test of English (Academic) 75 (no score below 69), or Duolingo (minimum score of 130 with no section below 110).
  • GMAT Executive Assessment may be requested in certain cases but is not required upon application.  If required, the preferred minimum GMAT Executive Assessment score is 140/200. Applicants may be considered for a waiver at the discretion of the MBA Admissions Team, typically following a review of the application and personal call.

Full-Time MBA student Ben Donahue sat down with us to give his tips and advice about applying for the Trinity MBA.

Admissions Process

We have a four-step admissions process. 

  • Complete all sections of the online application form.
  • Include 2 professional references to showcase your skills and experience.
  • A copy of your CV.
  • Upload your degree certificate or transcript of your results.
  • IELTS or TOEFL score report (if English is not your native language).
  • Complete an asynchronous assessment.
  • Submit your application and pay the application fee (€40). 

  • Successful candidates will be asked to meet a member of our admissions team to discuss their background and motivations.
  • This is a great opportunity to explore the MBA programme in greater detail and address any questions you may have.

  • A conditional offer is awarded to a successful candidate to provisionally book their place on the Trinity MBA while they meet the condition(s) of their offer. For example, a candidate may be requested to undertake a GMAT test or perhaps an English Language Test.
  • A full offer is awarded to a successful candidate that meets all requirements of entry. Scholarship applicants are also informed of their scholarship award at this time and the candidate is given a set period to accept or decline their offer. 

  • Please note that the deposit is non-refundable.

Before You Apply

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and places are limited, so we strongly recommend applying as early as possible. Early application is especially important if you wish to be considered for scholarships, need time to arrange a visa, or are relocating to Dublin.

The Trinity MBA operates a rolling admissions process and does not have one fixed application deadline. However, the class size is deliberately kept small, so early application is strongly advised. Applications may close once the programme is full.

Yes. Prospective applicants are encouraged to contact the MBA Admissions Team before applying. You can upload your CV and LinkedIn profile, and a member of the team will advise you on your eligibility and application readiness.

Yes, an interview is part of the admissions requirement and we strongly recommend a visit to the school as part of your selection process if possible.

We require applicants to have a minimum of 3 years professional work experience.

 

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. As we deliberately keep our class size small (45 to 50 students), we strongly recommend early application.

The typical GMAT of an incoming MBA ranges between 600 and 650. The GMAT is only one of the many criteria used to select applicants, however, we will not normally admit an applicant with a score below 550 or equivalent GMAT Focus score. Entry Requirements

Applicants are expected to have a degree, professional qualification or a strong track record of business achievement. Applicants should also have a minimum of 3 years’ professional or managerial work experience.

No. You do not need to have a business degree to apply. The Trinity MBA welcomes candidates from a wide range of academic, professional and sector backgrounds. Your application will be assessed holistically, including your professional experience, academic background, leadership potential, references, interview and overall fit for the programme.

Applicants must have a minimum of 3 years’ professional work experience. Managerial or leadership experience is valued, but applicants from different career paths and sectors are welcome to apply.

Applicants are normally expected to have a degree or professional qualification. However, candidates with a strong track record of business achievement may also be considered. If you are unsure whether your experience meets the entry criteria, please contact the MBA Admissions Team before applying.

Candidates are assessed on a range of factors, including professional experience, academic achievements, leadership potential, motivation for pursuing an MBA, business ethics, references, interview performance and overall contribution to the MBA cohort.

GMAT, GRE and Executive Assessment

Yes, in some cases. The Trinity MBA Admissions Team may waive the test requirement for applicants whose academic or professional background demonstrates strong quantitative and analytical ability. Waivers are considered at the discretion of the MBA Admissions Team, usually after reviewing the application and speaking with the candidate.

The MBA Admissions Team can advise you on which test is most appropriate for your profile. If you are unsure whether a test will be required, we recommend submitting your application or contacting the Admissions Team for guidance.

Application Documents

You will need to complete the online application form and upload the required supporting documents. These typically include:

  • CV
  • Degree certificate or academic transcript
  • 2 professional references
  • English language test score, if required
  • GMAT, GRE or Executive Assessment score, if requested or already available
  • Asynchronous assessment, as part of the application process

The current admissions process also asks applicants to complete an asynchronous assessment and submit the €40 application fee.

The Full-Time MBA requires 2 professional references. These should help demonstrate your skills, experience, leadership potential and suitability for the programme.

Your CV should clearly outline your education, professional experience, leadership responsibilities, achievements, career progression and any international, entrepreneurial, managerial or project-based experience. It should also include your current role, employer, dates of employment and key responsibilities.

If you need to provide additional documents or update information after submitting your application, please contact the MBA Admissions Team and include your application details.

Application Process

We operate a rolling admissions process with no fixed deadline, but places are limited, so early application is strongly advised. 

The application fee for the Eecutive MBA is currently €40.

Once all documents are received, you can typically expect to receive feedback within 10 working days.

Yes. The Trinity MBA has a deliberately small class size, and applications are reviewed carefully to build a strong, diverse and high-calibre cohort. Early application is strongly recommended.

Interview and Decision

Yes. Shortlisted candidates are invited to attend an interview with a member of the MBA Admissions Team. This gives the team an opportunity to learn more about your background, motivation and goals, and it gives you the chance to ask questions about the programme. Successful candidates will be asked to meet a member of our admissions team to discuss their background and motivations. 

This is a great opportunity to explore the MBA programme in greater detail and address any questions you may have.

The interview will usually explore your professional experience, leadership potential, career goals, motivation for choosing the Trinity MBA and how you hope to contribute to the MBA cohort.

If you receive an unconditional offer for a place on the programme you will be given up to 10 working days to decide if you wish to accept your offer. If you choose to accept your offer, the MBA admissions team will provide you with information on the next steps to pay your deposit and secure your place on the programme.

Fees, Deposit and Scholarships

The current Full-Time MBA tuition fee is €37,300.

Yes. A €1,500 non-refundable deposit is required when accepting your place.

Yes. Students can pay the full tuition fee in September or pay in 2 instalments, in September and January.

Yes. Trinity Business School offers a limited number of scholarships for talented applicants. Scholarships recognise academic and professional excellence, leadership potential, diversity and the ability to act as an ambassador for the school. C

Scholarship applications must be submitted when applying for a place on the programme. Applicants should complete and upload the scholarship application form as part of their MBA application.

Current scholarship opportunities include the Trinity MBA Merit Scholarship, the Trinity MBA 30% Club Scholarship for Women in Leadership, the Séamus McDermott Entrepreneurship Scholarship, Social Impact Scholarships and the Trinity MBA Alumni Bursary. Availability, values and deadlines may vary, so applicants should review the Fees & Scholarships page before applying.

Scholarship applicants are informed of their scholarship outcome at unconditional offer stage, where applicable. Scholarship decisions are assessed alongside the candidate’s application, references, CV, academic achievements and interview performance.

A valid GMAT Focus Edition or GRE score is not required at the point of application. However, it may be requested as part of the admissions review process.

Yes. You can submit your application before taking the GMAT or GRE. If your application is successful, you may receive a conditional offer requiring you to complete the relevant test.

Yes. You may be able to apply before taking your English language test. If your application is successful, you may receive a conditional offer requiring you to submit an accepted English language score.

This may depend on your educational background and the language of instruction of your previous degree. If you believe you may meet the English language requirement through previous study, please contact the MBA Admissions Team for guidance.

After Receiving an Offer

To secure your place, you must accept your offer, pay the non-refundable deposit pf €1,500. Only unconditional offer holders are invited to pay a deposit for the MBA programme.

No. The deposit is non-refundable.

International applicants who require a visa should apply as early as possible to allow time for admissions processing, offer acceptance, fee payment, visa documentation and relocation arrangements. If you have visa queries, please email tcdglobalroom@tcd.ie.
