The Trinity Sport Awards took place on Tuesday, 5th May 2026 at the Trinity College Dining Hall. Thirteen awards and nine University Pinks were announced during the ceremony. The annual awards are open to all sport clubs, and acknowledge the extraordinary commitment made by the sporting community at Trinity College Dublin. The 13th Annual Trinity Sport Awards were presented by Rob Hartnett of Sport for Business.

Reflecting on the year, Michelle Tanner, Director of Sport and Physical Activity at Trinity College Dublin commented on the night, “We are honoured to be here this evening to celebrate the extraordinary achievements, commitment and dedication of our sports clubs and sporting community at Trinity College Dublin. It is so important to celebrate and take pride in all your achievements over the last year.

Sports Person of the Year was awarded to Hazel Finn of Dublin University Basketball and Trinity Meteors. With a standout season in both collegiate and national leagues Finn was named Women’s Super League Young Player of the Year, Irish Times & Sport Ireland Sportswoman of the Month and Nominated for Irish Times Sportswoman of the Year. She is a regular fixture on the national squad and was recently named to the FIBA Women’s EuroBasket 2027 Qualifiers roster. Hazel is currently completing a Professional Masters in Education with the Trinity School of Education.

Dublin University Ladies Boat Club who marked this season with collegiate, colours and national titles took Club of the Year while their coach Caoimhe Dempsey, a Trinity and DULBC graduate was awarded Alumni of the Year. Team of the Year was awarded to Dublin University Mens Gaelic Football for victory in the Trench Cup while Dublin University Ladies Hockey received Performance of the Year for their win over Corinthians to secure promotion to EY2.

Coach of the Year Winner – Colm Nouvian Flynn (Dublin University Fencing)

Volunteer of the Year Winner – Liam Cribbin (Dublin University Mens Gaelic Football)

Alumni of the Year Winner – Caoimhe Dempsey (Ladies Boat)

Inclusive Club Award Winner –Dublin University Archery Club

Communications and Impact Award Winner – Dublin University Womens Rugby Club

Trinity Sport ‘Member of The Year’ Winner – Maureen Bartsch

Women in Sport Champion – Katie Lynch (Dublin University Fencing)

 

In addition to the Sport Awards, the University Pinks were announced. The University Pinks are awarded to student athletes who have shown outstanding individual merit in their chosen sport – in much the same vein as a ‘Blue’ is allocated in Oxford and Cambridge. Pinks is the highest sporting achievement that Trinity can bestow upon its students, recipients are chosen by the Trinity sport club captains. Over 1,240 students have received the prestigious accolade since its inception in 1927.
