Biography
Cathy was awarded a Bachelor in Business Studies degree from Trinity College Dublin in 1990. Following university, she joined Morgan Stanley International in London where she worked in European M&A and Corporate Finance before completing an MBA at INSEAD in France.
On returning to Ireland, Cathy initially spent several years at Riada/ABN AMRO Corporate Finance before subsequently moving to AIB Capital Markets.
Cathy has spent the bulk of her career in banking in AIB leading a variety of International and domestic lending and specialised finance teams. In her current role as Managing Director of AIB Capital Markets she is a member of the Executive Committee of the Bank with responsibility for the Bank’s domestic Corporate, Real Estate and Business lending and international business outside of the UK. Her team also includes Goodbody Stockbrokers and the Bank’s Private Banking and Equity Investment capability. Her business accounts for about one third of the Bank’s overall balance sheet with over 1,000 employees.
Cathy spent a year as a Director in the National Treasury Management Agency before returning to her current role in AIB. She served as a Non-Executive director of Dublin Port for 8 years and currently sits on the Finance Committee of Trinity College and the Diversity Committee of Leinster Rugby. In addition to her MBA, Cathy also completed the General Management Program at Harvard Business School and the Institute of Bankers Directors programme. She Captained Trinity 1st XI Hockey in 1988/89.
