Seminar Title: Obtaining research grants: tips from the experts

Description: Planning to apply for research funding in the next year or two? This TBS workshop is meant for you. Doireann Wallace from Trinity Research and our very own Siobhan McQuaid will share their considerable expertise when it comes to identifying suitable funding opportunities and the grant writing and application process. They will be using examples from Horizon Europe applications, but their advice on finding funding and writing strong applications will be useful for other grants as well.

If you have any questions, you are welcome to ask them during the session, but we would encourage you to send them in advance to tbs.research@tcd.ie.

Bio:

Dr Doireann Wallace is a Senior Interdisciplinary Research Funding Specialist in Trinity’s Research Development Office, where she supports applications to collaborative Horizon Europe funding programmes. Prior to this she worked as project manager for the EU-funded project SHAPE-ID: Shaping interdisciplinary research in Europe, and as Head of the Research Unit in the School of Computer Science and Statistics.

Dr Siobhan McQuaid is the Associate Director of Innovation at Trinity College Dublin’s Centre for Social Innovation. She leads research on the nature-positive economy and nature-based entrepreneurship. Siobhan is currently the principal investigator / coordinator of GoNaturePositive! a Horizon Europe funded research and innovation action. Prior to this she co-ordinated Connecting Nature with Trinity School of Natural Sciences and she also leads/supports Trinity participation in many other funded research projects. Prior to joining Trinity, Siobhan supported the coordination of research projects in UCD, Oxford, ULB and worked for many years in Brussels, leading international research collaboration for an EU innovation network, in diverse fields from health to smart-tech.
