Ageing and dementia in healthcare settings: design, evaluation and beyond

The symposium, which is using funding received from the Healthy and Positive Ageing Initiative (HaPAI) in 2018, will be split into three sessions: 

• Session 1: The Built Environment and Ecosystems of Care 
• Session 2:  The Role of the Built Environment Supporting Agency, Dignity and Quality of Life 
• Session 3: Acute Hospital Settings - Creating more Healthful, Therapeutic, and Caring Environments 

The symposium will showcase research related to the design of residential long-term care, dementia-inclusive hospitals, and the development of a dementia-inclusive design MOOC. It will also feature research supported by the HaPAI project, which involved the development of a Dementia-Inclusive Hospital Audit Toolkit. All of this work forms part of the TrinityHaus Research Pillar: Healthy and Inclusive Places.

Speakers at this event include a wide range of stakeholders involved in design for ageing and dementia and health care settings, including representatives from O’Connell-Mahon Architects, HSE, University of Wollongong and Maastricht University.
